An 1890 photo that shows a beautiful view of a 19th-century Flora Fountain in Bombay (Mumbai). In the 19th century, Flora Fountain in Bombay looked simply spectacular. In the picture, two horse-drawn trams, are seen including horse carriages and bullock carts, with plenty of shady trees lining the road.
The Oriental Building is shown prominently in the center, it originally housed the Cathedral High School. In 1893, the building was sold to the Oriental Life Assurance Company. It may have been occupied by the Cathedral High School when this photo was taken by Bourne & Shepherd in 1890. Flora Fountain lies at the intersection of Esplanade Road (M G Road) and Hornby Road (D N Road). Since the road is not metalled, one side of it looks wet, this is because it is being watered so that no dust is raised. The Dadahbai Naoroji Road leads to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Station (formerly VT).
