Full-length standing carte-de-visite portrait of Mr Nanabhoy B. Jeejeebhoy from the Album of cartes de visite portraits of Indian rulers and notables, by Bourne and Shepherd, early 1870s. The Jeejeebhoy family were a wealthy Parsi merchant family from Mumbai who had a reputation for benevolence and philanthropy, endowing many institutions in the city. After Jamsetjee Jeebhoy was knighted by the British Government they became important within the community and with the ruling elite. The family has long been regarded as leaders of the Parsi community of Western India.
