MUMBAI: Craters have sprung up on roads and highways citywide, exposing authorities’ hollow promises of monsoon preparedness. Large potholes near Nahur east station are causing autorickshaws to wobble dangerously, and leading pedestrians to trip.

More shockingly, the new Turbhe flyover, which was inaugurated as recently as Dec 2023, has been unable to withstand its very first monsoon.
A 50m stretch of the road is in bad shape due to potholes at SionPanvel highway in Navi Mumbai. So expansive are these craters that a cluster of small cars could comfortably swim amid the rain.
