The first dental college in India was established in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1920 by Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed, not in Bombay in 1822. However, the first Western-style medical institute in India, which included training for barber surgeons, was established in Calcutta in 1822. There is no record of a "first dentist" in Bombay in 1822, as formal dental education in India began much later.
