For this reason it is a portrait of him taken when in command of the grand old “ N inety-T w a’s ” that we now present to our readers His M utiny medal was won in the old 27th, but all the other honours which bedeck his breast were gained inthe Gordon Highlanders. W hen his men halted, exhausted, W hite, seizing a rifle, rushed forward alone, and shot dead the leader of the enemy. Again, at Candahar, W hite led the final charge, under a heavy fire, riding straight up to the m uzzles of the enemy’s guns, and him self capturing one.
