My father bought his first of three two wheelers in 1955. He used to sport a helmet exactly like the rider in the foreground. Helmets in India in 1950s and 60s were a rare sight. Nostalgia.

Mathuradas Goculdas seems to have had two R-R cars:

Chassis 2217 (Barker / H J Mulliner cabriolet). Bought in 1921.

Thanks for these lovely images. BOM 3400 is indeed registered to 'Mathradass Goculdass'.

I have LK Jhaveri listed as owner of 36LW, a 1919 Rothschild & Fils Landaulette, originally Baroda. Other names I have attached to this car are Lalbhai & Kallranbhai Traders / Kasturbhai Lalbhai. An image attached, source unknown to me.

Justice or lack thereof colonial style. The white ruler could do no wrong and after all those killed were mere brownies.

As originally published in a period automobile magazine. Likely, The AutoMotor Journal.

The driver of Car #1 is looking straight ahead in this photo. Hadn't noticed the girl next to him yet.

I am looking to buy a second hand car and my dad (now 72 years old) just happened to mention out of the blue that a friend of his bought a second hand car from Dorab Panday in 1991 and that he used to also service it really really well.

I searched for Dorab Panday on TeamBhp and landed up on this thread and your post! What a coincidence. I live in Parel and I will be visiting him today. I hope he is still around.

Often these events featured a special class for older vintage vehicles, like this Ford Model A 2 door Hardtop. Wonder what became of it.
