Plate six from J M Gonsalves' 'Views at Bombay'. The southern entrance of the Apollo Gate is close to St Andrew's Church, or the 'Scotch Church', shown on the left here. Also shown is the former Admiralty House, opposite the Lion Gate and the entrance to the dockyard with its clock tower. Just visible in the distance is the rounded façade of the Writer's Buildings. This picture is notable as it represents one of the few early 19th century scenes which may be seen in Bombay today, although the walls of the Bombay Fort and the Apollo Gate were demolished in the 1860s.
