Five old 1930 photos showing aerial views of British-era Bombay, now Mumbai. This post shows interesting five aerial views of British-era Bombay (Mumbai). The 1st photo shows the aerial view of Flora Fountain, Esplanade, and Hornby Roads. The Esplanade Road is now M G Road and Hornby Road is the Dadaboi Naoroji Road.
The image displays a beautiful landscape devoid of any high rises and a jampacked always in hurry traffic. The 2nd photo shows the intersection of the Prince of Wales Museum. The museum is the one with the bulbous dome. The road in its foreground leads to the Colaba Causeway, and to the right, it passes via the Fort area then to the Bombay Docks, etc.
The 5th image is presumably of South Bombay and Colaba areas. With the Back Bay in the foreground, and the Marine Drive in its undeveloped state. Dotted in between are the chimneys of the cotton mills. The 3rd image is the area of Mahalaxmi with its racecourse, a railway yard can be seen in the foreground. The 4th image is possibly the Bandra area, although not entirely sure, with some buildings vaguely visible. Click on the photo for better view.
