old memories of living in a British era Bungalow and serving people of U.P. 1970

TWO BRITISH ERA BUNGALOWS BELONGING TO MISSION HOSPITAL -AZAMGARH- NEAR AZAMGARH CHURCH -U.P. 1970'S-

HAD A MALI= GARDNER AND A WATCH MAN AND A COOK 
(no aircondition then-used to sleep out in the garden under a mosquito net -to save my self from mosquitos-but net tucked under mattress to prevent snakes --Monkeys on terrace was another problem)Those were the days of infamous characters-Dakus-people carrying guns were seen quiet often on roads -may be as protection- not sure when you meet them on road at night 3 while on jeep to hospital emergency .scary -to remember ,it happened 
lived in a bungalow of similar design in AZAMGARH,near church@U.P. 1970 @mission hospital Azamgarh-had a hearth inside for cold season

WHILE HOSPITAL WAS GIVEN A GERMAN VAN BY  the Peace Corps

MADE VAN

DRIVEN ALL THE WAY FROM GERMANY BY ROAD VIA EUROPE,TURKEY,IRAN,AFGHANISTHAN AND PAKISTAN TO INDIA 


-AN INDIA WHICH WAS POOR THEN  BY the Peace Corps

 PROUD NOW INDIA IS NO MORE DIRT POOR

 INDIA HAS PROGRESSED A LOT
