Coloured aquatint by Thomas Daniell after the drawing of James Wales of the rock-cut temple of 'Kondooty'. This is Plate 1 of [Antiquities of India], published by Thomas Daniell in London in1803.
The rock-cut temple of Kondivate is situated on a hill north-west of Bombay. The carvings on the wall date from the late fifth or sixth century. The interior has an apsidal plan and a votive stupa is situated at the end of the central nave.
